Enclosure

Media and Enclosure

Suppose the feed you are reading is about a media. This could be a picture, a video, some music (MP3). In the RSS Spec, there is a field which defines enclosure.

What's an enclosure ?

An enclosure is a link to some media ressource, file or stream. The real beauty of the enclosure is that you don't need to access the web page, it's all inside the RSS feed.

SyndARn relationship with enclosures.

When SyndARn parse an RSS feed where some enclosure links are defined, he use them to define a quick access to the enclosure media. In the Main List view, you will see something like this :

The small red button means : "there is some multimedia data just waiting you to be downloaded".

If you click on the red button, then the download will be processes, in background. The button goes green to mark this.

When the multimedia file is ready, the button becomes an arrow . Clicking on the arrow will launch the multimedia file : if this is a picture, it will display it; if it is an MP3, you will hear it, etc.
